The Singing-Reading Connection workshop was founded in 1989 by Shirley Handy and beloved children's entertainer, Raffi. As the scope of the network grew larger to include teacher support materials, National Educational Network became the parent company and sponsor of the Singing - Reading Connection Workshop with Shirley Handy. Today, Shirley Handy's primary workshop is Teaching With The Brain In MInd: The Importance Of Music, Movement, Rhythm, And Rhyme. The workshop network reaches thousands of teachers annually, with relevant instructional strategies and instructional materials.
